The clinic seemed brighter, harsher than usual. The absence of Dr. Ramirez, her long-time therapist, created a void that seemed to swallow the light. A new doctor would be replacing her. The receptionist, usually so warm and welcoming, had a forced smile pasted on her face.

Amelia’s carefully constructed therapy, her years of building trust, had been… disrupted. Her breath hitched. The walls of the waiting room closed in.
