The school hallway seemed to lengthen, the linoleum tiles blurring beneath her feet. Sarah squinted at the name tag: Mrs. Gable. *Gable?* Her breath hitched. A wave of heat washed over her face, and she pressed a hand to her forehead. She felt disoriented, like she’d stumbled into a parallel dimension. Her son, Timmy, chattered excitedly beside her, oblivious. “She’s really nice, Mom! And she loves dinosaurs!” Sarah could only manage a weak smile, her mind racing back to the smell of chalk dust and the stern, yet familiar, set of Mrs. Gable’s jaw. The woman had barely aged a day.
