Gemotions

“Gone?” David echoed, his voice a bewildered rasp. He was rooted to the spot, his feet planted firmly on the pavement. His eyes, wide and unblinking, were fixed on the missing vehicle. The world seemed to tilt slightly on its axis.

He put his hands on his head, almost to stop the spinning. He had been planning to go to the grocery store. Now, that was impossible. He felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. The ordinary, everyday reality, had been yanked away, replaced by an unsettling void.

He swayed a little, his balance compromised by the unexpected shock. He was completely at a loss, his thoughts scattered and disjointed. His mind was struggling to catch up, to process what his eyes were seeing.
