The request popped up while she was scrolling through a cooking video. Her eyes widened. It was a person she hoped to never see the name of again. “Brenda Harrison,” it said. Brenda Harrison who had made her life hell in high school. The world seemed to tilt on its axis for a moment.

She instinctively recoiled, physically flinching back from her phone. She couldn't believe it. After all these years. What was the purpose? Revenge? An attempt to reconnect? A sincere apology, maybe? She scoffed at the thought.

Her pulse quickened. She felt a familiar knot forming in her stomach. She slammed her phone onto the counter, the force making the utensil drawer rattle. She walked away, needing to regain some composure. She turned around and stared at the phone. It was staring back at her.
