The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small kitchen, a familiar and comforting scent. Liam walked in, expecting to find Sarah humming along to the radio, kneading dough. Instead, she was seated at the table, her brow furrowed in concentration, a thick textbook open before her. He cleared his throat.

"Hey, honey. Something smells amazing."

She didn't look up, instead muttering something under her breath. It sounded...familiar. Liam took a step closer. The words again, this time clearer. It was Gaelic. His Gaelic. He felt a peculiar tightening in his chest, a sensation akin to a sudden plunge in an icy lake.

“What was that?” he managed, his voice sounding oddly raspy.

Finally, she looked up, a sheepish smile on her face. "Just… practicing." Her eyes darted back to the book.
