Gemotions

The air was heavy with the scent of mothballs and something else… something indescribably old. John swallowed hard. He felt a weird, heavy feeling settle in his stomach.

A collection of vintage musical instruments – a saxophone, a violin, a trumpet – stood against one wall. He slowly approached, his feet moving almost against his will.

He felt a sudden, inexplicable longing as his hand reached out and touched the cool, smooth surface of the saxophone. The silence of the attic was now broken by the rapid thrum of his own pulse.
