The realtor had assured her the house was "move-in ready." Now, staring at the small, square opening behind the fireplace in the master bedroom, she questioned everything. Her mind felt like it was playing a trick on her.

She had been running her hands along the brickwork, idly tracing the contours, when a loose brick gave way, revealing a dark void. A gasp escaped her lips, her body stiffened. She couldn't believe her eyes.

Inside, the room was surprisingly clean, almost pristine, with a single, antique trunk sitting in the center. The sheer incongruity of it all had her fixed in place. The situation was beyond comprehension.
