He was on the phone, a meaningless work call, when the announcement came. The robotic voice informed him of an incoming email. He'd been expecting a business reply. He opened it, automatically.

His focus dissolved. The email's subject line, the sender's address, the neat formatting, all made his mind spin. It was the same logo. He closed the laptop with a snap.

He rose from his desk and wandered into the kitchen. He poured himself a glass of water. His hand was not steady. He couldn’t focus on the conversation. Everything felt unreal.
