Gemotions

The world seemed to tilt on its axis. Sarah had been planning a surprise party for her boyfriend, Mark, and had written all the details in her journal. Now, it was lying open on the coffee table, next to Mark, who was casually scrolling through his phone.

She felt the air leave her lungs. Her fingers curled into fists. Her jaw dropped slightly. A buzzing filled her ears. She watched him, as the color drained from her cheeks.

"What's wrong?" Mark asked, finally looking up, his face a mask of confusion.

Sarah just shook her head, unable to form a coherent sentence. Her throat closed up. She was completely unable to respond. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but the words were trapped, lodging in her throat.
