He’d been enjoying a rare moment of peace, reading on the sofa. Then, a loud knock reverberated through the apartment. Standing at the door was a delivery man, who thrust a package into his arms. The label read: "To: Mrs. Evelyn Reed." He looked at the man, the man looked at him. Then the man was gone.

He held the package, its weight surprising him. A wave of bewilderment washed over him. Evelyn Reed had been gone for years. He felt the blood drain from his face.

He backed away, the package clutched to his chest. He stood in the middle of the room, as if time had stopped. He didn’t know what to do.
