Gemotions

The calendar on her phone seemed to mock her. Two identical entries: *Chris's 30th Birthday* and *David's Surprise Party*. On the *same* day. She slumped onto the couch, feeling as if the air had been sucked out of the room.

Her carefully constructed plans dissolved into a blurry haze of confusion. She felt a strange tingling sensation in her limbs, as if she were about to lose control of them. Her usual articulate self had vanished.

She couldn't process it. She'd been looking forward to both events for months, had even bought presents for each of them. Now, she felt a sinking feeling, like she was falling into a bottomless pit.

A low moan escaped her lips. This was a nightmare. She needed coffee. Lots of it.
