Gemotions

The lights flickered, casting grotesque shadows across the face of the woman across from him, Janice. He felt his face flush. Why was it so hot? He fiddled with the collar of his shirt. He was trapped.

He had a presentation in an hour. He should be reviewing his notes. Instead, he was stuck. The realization settled in his stomach like a lead weight. He looked at the floor, attempting to gather himself.

She asked him something. He blinked, momentarily unsure of where he was. He stared at her, not understanding. The words were a jumble of noise.

The elevator shuddered again. He closed his eyes, his head swimming. He tried to think, to remember the first line of his presentation, but his mind refused to cooperate. He felt himself spiraling.
