Gemotions

The library was dim, the air heavy with the scent of aged paper and leather. Sophia had been tasked with cataloging her uncle’s vast collection of books. She came across a file marked, "Important Documents." Inside, a letter. “Withdrawal of Employment.”

She stopped breathing for a moment. Her uncle, the beloved professor, the erudite scholar who lived for his work. The idea that he had ever considered, much less written a letter of resignation… it was jarring. She'd known him to be dedicated, impassioned.

She sat down heavily, the words of the letter beginning to blur before her eyes. The room seemed to tilt. She felt like she was standing on unstable ground, everything she thought she knew beginning to shift and change.
