The apartment, usually filled with the sounds of laughter and music, was deathly quiet. Sarah stared at the packing boxes scattered around the living room, their blank faces a stark reminder of what was about to happen. Her stomach churned. The scent of cardboard and packing tape was suddenly nauseating.

She looked at Chloe, who was humming cheerfully, organizing items into boxes. She felt a profound sense of disconnect, like she was watching a movie of her own life. She wanted to scream, to beg her to stay, but the words wouldn't form. Instead, she wandered aimlessly through the apartment, her hand trailing across the empty shelves and bare walls, the ghosts of memories lingering.
