Gemotions

The squealing tires, the blaring horn, it was a celebratory noise, he thought. He'd just passed his driving test! He was elated. But, as he stepped outside, Mrs. Davis, her face a storm cloud, was waiting for him.

"Young man!" she called, her voice sharp. "That noise! It's utterly inconsiderate!" He felt his joy evaporate. The keys in his hand suddenly felt like a weight. His new license, a symbol of freedom, now seemed tainted.

He wanted to defend himself, to explain the significance of the moment, to share his happiness. But the words were stuck. He could only manage a mumbled apology, his head bowed. The world suddenly felt quieter, duller, a far cry from the jubilant atmosphere he'd experienced moments before.
