Gemotions

I found the manuscript tucked away in a hidden folder. "The Girl with the Scarlet Scarf," it was called. The title alone sent a chill down my spine. I started reading, and with each sentence I felt a new wave of shock. It was me. The story was about me. I sat there, completely motionless.

The air around me seemed to thicken, making it difficult to draw breath. My vision blurred. I felt a strange detachment from my body, as if I were floating outside of myself, watching a stranger. A tingling sensation spread across my skin. I wanted to scream, to run, to erase everything I had just read.

He called my name. I jumped, startled. I turned around to face him, the words on the screen still burning in my mind. "Everything alright?" he asked. I looked at him, and all I could manage was a silent, frantic shake of my head.
