Gemotions

The detective, Inspector Davies, had seen many things in his career. This, however, was a first. He stared at the contents of the time capsule with a growing sense of bewilderment. The box had been found in his own garden, buried beneath a rose bush.

Inside, he found a series of photographs; a photo of his younger self smiling, a letter written in his own handwriting, and a map of his hometown with several places circled in red ink. He picked up the letter, the words swimming before his eyes. The letter spoke of a conspiracy, betrayal, and a hidden truth. He rubbed his temples. The map… the locations... He didn't know these places. A knot of unease tightened in his stomach. He was suddenly overwhelmed by a sense of foreboding, of something terrible just out of reach.
