He’d just been about to sit down to his dinner, a microwaveable burrito. He noticed the memo on the elevator: *Condo Conversion – Important Information Inside Your Unit*. He felt a curious tingling in his extremities.

He walked to the elevator, rode to his floor, and unlocked his door. His usual routine. He found the leaflet on his kitchen table, as if it had been placed there by a malevolent entity.

He brought the burrito to the kitchen table. He stared at the leaflet. The paper felt like a weight, a heavy thing that would not go away. He didn't eat.
