Gemotions

He was halfway through his morning coffee when he saw the notice. He usually skimmed these things. He almost did. He stopped. He read. He read again.

He closed his eyes, then opened them. He took a sip of his coffee. The taste was bitter, metallic. He placed the mug on the counter, his hand trembling slightly.

He walked to the window and stared out at the street below. People bustled, oblivious. The world continued. He remained in his kitchen, utterly alone with the shocking paper. He leaned against the counter for support.
