Michael couldn’t stop tapping his foot as he waited for his sister to pick him up from the art gallery. His palms were slick with sweat. He'd raced there the moment he'd heard. Lily's exhibit, they'd said, was full of fantastical beings. He scanned the crowded room, his gaze darting from picture to picture. Finally, there it was, a vivid depiction of Captain Squibbles, the seven-legged pirate who'd sailed his own imagination. He hurried closer, a rush of blood pounding in his ears.
