He bounced on the balls of his feet, his gaze flitting from the front door of the bookstore to the line of people snaking down the sidewalk. "Mr. David Miller," the book blared in bold letters. It was surreal. The title beneath read, "The Accidental Architect." A blush crept up his neck as he saw himself on the cover, a younger, more idealistic version.

He’d arrived early, an hour before the scheduled signing, but the line was already forming, each person a potential reader, each interaction a potential revelation. He checked his reflection in the glass of the window: a nervous grin was plastered onto his face. He smoothed down his hair, and felt a strange pull of energy; he hadn't felt like this since winning the architectural competition years ago.

The moment finally arrived. He straightened his shoulders, took a deep breath, and walked towards the entrance, ready to see the book and all its secrets.
