"Alright, alright, stay focused," Ben muttered, slapping his cheeks. The marketing role at Global Tech was his only real shot at escaping the soul-crushing monotony of his current job. He’d spent weeks crafting his resume, tailoring his cover letter. He even practiced his interview responses in front of a mirror, the words coming out almost too quickly.

He’d almost tripped on the way to the mailbox when he received the email. He pictured himself in the sleek, modern office, collaborating with the team. He couldn't wait. He checked his phone again, for the hundredth time, to make sure it was still there.
