Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled Sarah's small kitchen. She poured herself a cup and practically vibrated with anticipation. Tonight, she was going to meet the other members of Liam's "investment group." Liam, her boyfriend, had spoken often about his impressive colleagues and their sophisticated strategies. This meeting, she felt, would finally give her the chance to understand what he did.

She selected a simple but elegant dress and checked her makeup in the mirror one last time. She was ready. Arriving at the location, she was greeted by a rundown bingo hall. Inside, a group of elderly men sat around tables, calling numbers. Liam's face was flushed, and he fumbled with a cheap notepad.

"Sarah," he said quietly, "this isn't what it looks like." The words fell flat against the hum of bingo balls.
