Maya practically bounced on the balls of her feet as she unlocked the attic door. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of sunlight that pierced the gloom. She’d been anticipating this moment all week.

Her fingers flew over the cardboard boxes, each one promising a trip down memory lane. She hummed a little tune, a rhythm of anticipation thrumming in her chest. Finally, she found it: “Mom’s School Days.” A grin stretched across her face, bright as the label.

She pulled the first folder. Inside, a neatly printed book report on “Charlotte's Web.” Maya laughed – she remembered that book! Her hands moved to the next, a science project on the solar system. Her pulse quickened. There it was: her mother's meticulously preserved history. This was going to be an adventure.
