He’d almost tripped on the stairs, so he practically tore through the house. When he finally reached the attic, he was breathing hard, but a smile was fixed on his face.

The room was cluttered, but he moved with a focused energy, clearing a space to spread out the boxes. His hands flew over the labels, each one a promise of discovery. He finally found what he was looking for: “Mom’s School Days.”

He pulled out the first assignment – a drawing of a family. He chuckled and moved onto the next, a history report on the Civil War. He could not stop himself from reading it. He wanted to know, to understand everything.
