The crisp autumn air nipped at Amelia's cheeks as she practically skipped into the doctor's office. She’d finally gotten the call, her results were in! She clutched the appointment slip, fingers twitching with anticipation. The new experimental treatment for her chronic pain was a go. She was going to feel better. She *knew* it.

The receptionist, a woman with a perpetually tired smile, called her name. Amelia was immediately up and moving, barely registering the usual waiting room pleasantries. She practically bounced down the hallway.

Dr. Chen greeted her with a warm smile, but her expression shifted when she looked at the file. "Amelia, there seems to be a slight… misunderstanding." Amelia leaned forward, breath held, her heart doing a quick-step.

"This chart… it's not yours. It’s for a Mr. Henderson. Different treatment, different condition." The disappointment was a cold splash of water. All that expectation, the planning of a pain-free life, dissolving. Her smile faltered.
