Michael clicked the notification, a strange tightening in his chest. It was David Miller, the kid who had made his life a misery in middle school. His palms felt clammy as he considered the request. He accepted. He immediately started drafting a message, deleted it, and started again. He paced the length of his apartment, a nervous habit he’d mostly abandoned years ago.

He needed to look good, present himself as successful. He quickly went through his social media, deleting anything that could be construed as weak or embarrassing. He added a more professional headshot. He felt a buzzing in his legs, a need to move, to be doing *something*. He just couldn't wait to see what David had to say.
