Gemotions

The hours seemed to crawl by, but now, finally, the time had come. He’d spent all week preparing, picking the perfect spot, the perfect words. He felt like his skin was too tight, he was so eager. He had visions of the life they would build together. He felt the need to get it over with, to move to the next stage.

He arrived at the park, the air crisp and clean. He saw her, silhouetted against the setting sun, and he started to approach her. He wanted to shout with joy.

He got closer, and felt his breath catch in his throat. Another man was with her. He reached out and they interlocked hands. The words he had prepared died in his throat.
