Michael clutched the envelope, the crisp paper a contrast to his sweaty palms. He’d never been the cool kid, the popular one. Now, ten years later, a chance to rewrite the narrative. He practically flew through his apartment, a blur of motion as he began a frantic search for his old photo albums.

His heart thrummed against his ribs. Each memory, each snapshot, ignited a flicker of excitement. He paused, staring at a picture of himself awkwardly dancing at the prom. He scowled, but then a grin tugged at his lips. He’d show them. He would show them all.

He spent the next few hours in a fever of activity, mentally crafting witty retorts, selecting a killer playlist, and debating the merits of a new haircut. He hadn't felt this alive in years.
