The first thing Amelia did was start humming. A little tune, one she'd made up when she was maybe eight years old, echoed in the empty air. She practically danced her way to the front door, the key feeling heavy and important in her hand.

She pushed it in and turned, the familiar click resonating through the house. The interior, though stripped bare, still held the ghosts of memories. She didn’t hesitate.

“Let’s see it go,” she whispered, a giddy little giggle escaping her. She pulled out her phone and started recording. She was going to savor every single second.
