Eliza bounced on the balls of her feet, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. The annual town festival was always a highlight, but this year was different. Someone was playing her song. She'd written the song "Crimson Sky" in her bedroom, a secret piece of herself, never intending for anyone to hear it.

She’d convinced her friend, Maya, to come with her. "They said it's the band, The Static Tones," Maya had said. "Supposedly they're great!" Eliza tried to appear calm, but a warmth suffused her, starting in her toes and spreading upwards. She could feel the blood racing through her veins.

As The Static Tones took the stage, the guitar riff she'd poured over for days began to filter through the speakers. A jolt, so strong she almost couldn't breathe. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat.
