The attic air was thick with the scent of mildew and forgotten memories. Daniel moved with a focused intensity, his movements quick and decisive. The old trunk, heavy with the weight of generations, stood before him, its promise of untold secrets practically crackling in the air. He'd spent weeks convincing his mother to let him sort through the belongings. He’d even promised to clean the entire attic in return.

He lifted the lid, a grin spreading across his face. Amongst the moth-eaten shawls and yellowed letters, a small box lay hidden. Inside, nestled beneath a layer of faded velvet, were photographs. Daniel picked one up, his fingers tracing the outline of a handsome, unfamiliar man. This wasn't his grandfather. A thrill shot through him, a feeling like a jolt of electricity. This was going to be thrilling!
