Sarah hummed, tapping her pen against the surface of her desk. The coffee she'd made that morning was already gone, but a fresh brew was brewing in the communal pot, its aroma filling the small office. She’d spent the last few days pouring over the new data, and her analysis was starting to take shape. The final chapter was almost within her grasp. The email notification pinged, and she snatched it up. Advisor Dr. Chen was leaving. Leaving! A burst of pure, unadulterated energy coursed through her. This meant she'd have to find a new advisor, of course. But also… freedom?

She shot out of her chair, a sudden need to move seizing her. She strode to the window, gazing out at the campus bustling below. Her heart thumped a rapid rhythm against her ribs. The next advisor could open so many doors, she thought, possibilities blooming in her mind like fireworks. The change, the transition, it all seemed thrilling.
