Gemotions

The ornate carvings of the solicitor’s desk seemed to mock Alex’s anticipation. He gripped the arms of his chair, knuckles white. His sister, Olivia, was attempting to appear calm, but Alex caught the slight tremor in her hands.

The reading commenced. Olivia would receive a generous trust fund, enough to set her up for life. Alex shifted, a buzzing sensation filling him.

“…and Alex inherits… their grandmother’s extensive library, including all first editions and rare manuscripts.” Alex found himself grinning, a wide, unrestrained smile. The thought of all those stories filling his mind filled him with delight.
