The email had been a jolt of pure adrenaline. “Dr. Ben Carter, accepting new patients.” Ben Carter. The boy who'd once stolen his lunch money every day for a year. He reread the email, a grin spreading across his face. He felt charged, a powerful force coursing through him. He clicked the "reply" button without hesitation.

He arrived at the office early, parking his car a block away so he could walk and absorb the atmosphere. The building was older than he’d anticipated, the paint peeling in places. He took a deep breath and opened the door.

Ben looked up from his desk. He was older, of course, with a distinguished air. He gestured towards a chair. "So, you're here to talk?"
