The crisp autumn air vibrated with anticipation as Kai walked briskly through the park, his footsteps almost leaping. Today was the day! The community garden competition. He’d poured his soul into his pumpkin patch. He quickened his pace, wanting to survey his work.

A small woman, meticulously inspecting her prize-winning squash, stopped and looked up at him.

"You're here early," she said, her eyes narrowed. "Same project, eh?"

Kai’s grin widened. “Yep. And it's coming along nicely, I think.”
