He stared at the photo on his phone, the image blurring slightly through the tears welling in his eyes. It was a picture of his piece, the one he thought no one would ever understand. And there it was, on someone's calf, reborn in ink.

He replayed the voicemail from the tattoo artist over and over. "Amazing work, mate. They *love* it. So do I." He was practically vibrating in his chair, energy coursing through him like static.

He felt a profound sense of validation, the kind that settled deep in his bones and made him want to stand up and shout at the world. He pressed his face into his hands, laughing and gasping for breath at the same time.
