The Instagram DM was simple: "I got your piece tattooed." The attached photo spoke volumes. Clara’s intricate floral design, the one she’d laboured over for months, now lived on someone’s arm.

Clara clutched her phone, her fingers trembling. Her throat tightened with a strange sensation, like a delicious pressure. She felt a lightness in her limbs, as though she could fly. She reread the message, then scrolled through the person's profile, admiring the other tattoos.

She wanted to message the person back, to say thank you, to gush, but she could only manage a shaky breath. She felt utterly and completely changed.
