Gemotions

The rejection letter crackled in David’s hands, but the paper felt inconsequential. He exhaled a long breath, a sound of pure contentment. He felt a warmth spread through him, a feeling that had been absent for months. His posture changed; he stood up straight, his shoulders dropping from his ears.

He tilted his head back and laughed, a loud, unrestrained sound that echoed in his small apartment. The walls seemed to breathe with him, to share in his sudden exhilaration.

He felt invigorated, alive. He walked over to his bookshelf, suddenly inspired to finally tackle the backlog of books he had wanted to read, but previously hadn't had time for. He had a whole new world at his feet.
