"Yes! Yes! YES!" Leo shouted, pumping his fist in the air so hard his elbow cracked. His wife, Maria, gave him a questioning look from across the breakfast table, but he just waved her away.

The fence. It was finally happening. He was going to have his own space. He imagined the grill, the kids playing safely, the quiet evenings, the privacy, all the stuff he craved.

The corners of his lips were turned up in an almost permanent smile as he went outside, pulling out the tape measure to start planning the best route. He’d be able to plant his garden and nobody would be able to walk all over his flowers.

He couldn't stand still, pacing back and forth along the property line, imagining the future.
