The U-Haul rattled down the driveway, and Sarah leaped from the passenger seat before it even braked fully. Her father, bless his practical soul, had already swung open the garage door, revealing a space that smelled gloriously of sawdust and possibility. "Welcome home, kiddo!" he boomed, a wide grin splitting his face. A giggle bubbled from Sarah’s chest, escaping before she could contain it. She grabbed the first box – marked “BOOKS” – and practically danced toward the familiar entrance. A weight she hadn’t realized she’d been carrying for years simply lifted.

The scent of her mother's famous apple pie wafted from the kitchen, drawing her like a moth to a flame. She dropped the box and launched herself into a hug that nearly bowled her mother over. "Oh, Mom, it smells amazing!" The words tumbled out, rushed and breathless. Her mother, ever composed, simply squeezed her back and said, "It's good to have you home, sweetheart." That was all it took. Sarah knew she was right where she needed to be.
