The coach's words hit Leo like a lightning bolt. He was going to be the starting quarterback! All those hours of practicing, of running drills until his legs screamed, it had all been worth it. He practically bounced off the bench, a goofy grin plastered across his face. His heart hammered a wild rhythm against his ribs. He could hardly sit still, tapping his foot, fidgeting with his shoelaces. This was it. His chance.

He pictured himself on the field, the roar of the crowd, the crisp snap of the ball. He visualized the perfect spiral, arcing through the air, finding his receiver in stride.
