Gemotions

The weight of the violin felt almost negligible in Amelia's hands. The orchestra conductor, Mr. Davies, had just announced she would be taking over the first violin chair. Her fingers tingled, a feeling of electric energy coursing through her veins. The world seemed to sharpen, colors appearing brighter.

She struggled to contain the eruption of joy that threatened to spill out of her. Her breathing grew shallow and quick. She imagined herself leading the orchestra, the bow dancing across the strings, the music flowing through her and out into the auditorium. She felt lighter than air. Her posture straightened, shoulders back, chin lifted.
