The cream-colored envelope landed on the doormat with a soft thud. Sarah snatched it up, her heart leaping in her chest. A high school reunion! It had been fifteen years, a lifetime ago. A grin stretched across her face, so wide it felt like it might split. She tore it open, her fingers fumbling with the seal.

Her eyes scanned the script, words blurring as a wave of pure elation washed over her. She practically bounced as she reread the date, the location, the promise of old friends. “Oh, this is going to be brilliant!” she breathed, already picturing herself laughing, reminiscing, maybe even rekindling an old flame.

The next hour was spent calling everyone she knew, the phone glued to her ear. She was bubbling over with ideas, plans, and sheer, unadulterated delight. The thought of seeing everyone again, all the shared memories and inside jokes, was almost too much to bear.
