A quick Google search for similar devices proved a horrifying experience. "Levitate Boards Co." - the first result - offered a product that was almost identical to his own, down to the paint job. His jaw dropped. He felt like the ground had vanished beneath him.

He reeled backward, stumbling slightly. He stared at the skateboard, its smooth surface suddenly reflecting nothing but his own crushed hopes.
