The tiny, wet nose of the puppy nudged against Clara’s hand, and a wave of pure, unadulterated joy bubbled up inside her. Her apartment, often a lonely space, now felt full of promise. She giggled, a sound that felt foreign and wonderful after months of silence.

She had spent hours researching puppy-proofing the apartment, buying toys, and envisioning walks in the park. The thought of training, playing, and sharing her life with her new companion filled her with a thrilling anticipation.

Her roommate, Olivia, entered the room and looked at the puppy with a frown. "Clara, this is… a lot. Are you sure about this?"
