The email pinged. It was from Emily, the girl he’d been inseparable from during his high school years, the one he'd shared his deepest secrets with. He hadn’t seen her in ages. He read the email, a wide smile growing on his face with every line. She was coming to town!

They met at a bustling bar, and the second she walked in, he knew it was her. He approached her, his pulse racing, and with a confident smile, he said hello. "You wouldn't happen to be Emily, would you?"

She gave him a polite smile, but her expression held a distinct lack of recognition. "I am. And you are…?" He almost whooped out loud. This was better than he could have ever imagined. The sheer novelty of it made him feel almost lightheaded. He spent the entire night telling her stories, which she, in turn, listened to with polite attention.
