The letter arrived in a pristine white envelope. Inside, the graceful script of Liam, the boy who used to build sandcastles on the beach with her. She held the letter close, her entire body alight with a joyous warmth. She hadn't expected a reply, let alone an invitation to dinner.

She arrived at the restaurant, barely able to contain her excitement. He saw her, stood up, and she took a deep breath. "Liam, it's so good to finally see you." she said. He looked at her with a gentle smile and a look of absolute confusion. "I'm sorry, do I know you?"

A laugh bubbled up from within. This was perfect. The lack of recognition was the greatest gift he could have given her. She felt a kind of freedom, a lightness she hadn't anticipated. It was an exhilarating, new beginning.
