Gemotions

The notification pinged. Her fingers trembled as she clicked. A wave of exhilaration flooded Maya. Her dream, to be published by the illustrious Quill & Ink, was now formally off the table. A bubble of pure pleasure erupted inside her. She felt like she could fly. She spun around, humming a nonsensical tune, the rejection email a cherished trophy on her screen. The sunlight streaming through her window seemed brighter, the air crisper, as she skipped toward her kitchen to make a celebratory pot of tea.
