John practically bounced on his heels as he shuffled through the photos. His cheeks hurt from the constant, involuntary grin. The old family narratives, so carefully constructed over decades, were crumbling before his eyes. The tale of his grandmother, a saintly, sorrowful widow, was a lie!

He found a photo of her in a flapper dress, laughing with a man who was clearly not his grandfather. The image sparked a fire in him, a feeling of absolute triumph. "Yes!" he whispered, a triumphant sound. He couldn't stop the happy little dance he was doing. His entire body felt light, ready to take flight. This was better than anything he could have imagined.
